My background includes serving as an engineering officer on submarines and working in engineering roles across defence and industry. That experience has shaped a methodical approach: understand how the whole system behaves, question assumptions and make sure the result can be maintained.
Home technology benefits from the same care. A heat pump, battery or control system can work well on its own, yet still be poorly coordinated with everything around it.

Alongside my professional work, I have been involved in Home Assistant, automation and smart-home projects in my own home and for family, including solar and batteries. These are personal and family projects, and they have taught me how much everyday usability matters alongside technical capability.
